J D Williams
J D Williams is the UK’s leading direct home shopping company, operating over 20 successful catalogue brands. The catalogues offer a huge selection of clothing and other products for all ages and sizes. Today J D Williams is the most successful direct home shopping company in the UK, with over 2 million customers and 4,000 employees.
JDW has an enviable heritage as a catalogue retailer and has now successfully transitioned to an online model. In a changing retail world, in which an online presence is rapidly becoming part of the business model of conventional bricks and mortar retailers, JDW also recognises that the company’s value proposition should embrace a bricks and mortar presence to drive customers to its websites. The company set Enactor the challenge of delivering a store solution that would be an extension of its existing IT infrastructure.
JDW selected an Enactor system of point of service, central and store inventory running on HHTs, Estate Manager and Retail Hub. The solution leverages Enactor’s online technology, with Enactor Web services calling JDW’s central client accounts and validating returns to implement the company’s order online and return in store value proposition. Enactor Retail Hub receives warehouse inventory shipments and provides real-time stock management in stores. Now implemented in stores, JDW have plans to expand their use of the Enactor platform.
